Professional Biography

Laney Haynes is currently a freshman at Southeastern University in Lakeland, Florida, where she plays softball and majors in sports management. She chose Southeastern because she loved the small community and Christian atmosphere that they offer. She also felt that it gave her the best opportunity to grow athletically, academically, and spiritually.

 

Over the years, Laney has grown close ties to the sports community. She has been affected in many ways by many people in the sports community where she grew up. She felt that these people were so devoted to giving back to her and making her a better person, she decided that she wanted to shape her life that way as well. She felt the best way to give back to the community was to choose a path where she could teach the game of softball and have huge impact on others, like people did on her. For example, when Laney was a freshman, she had a coach that balanced discipline and equality very well. Laney respected her coach’s philosophy and used it to help shape her future path. Laney felt that the best way to achieve her dream was to be a sports management major. This would allow her to be able to coach kids the game of softball or even work as a scout to make young baseball players achieve their dreams of playing in the MLB. Being a part of the Southeastern softball team has given Laney the chance to work clinics and other activities. These activities have only reassured Laney that she wanted to center her life around making impacts on other people.

 

         Before college, Laney lived in Lynn Haven, Florida. That is where she grew up and went to high school. In high school, Laney received varsity letters in volleyball and softball. Even though she thoroughly loved both, softball was her true passion. She was inspired throughout her high school career with good and bad coaches that made her want to become a better coach for the next generation of athletes. In high school, she also was presented with many of athletic scholarships due to her numerous successes in both sports. Laney also did well in the classroom, receiving many academic scholarships. Outside of school, she has interests in other sporting events, camping, coaching, and kayaking. As you can tell Laney was a very well-rounded student-athlete who works hard day in and day out. This will pave the way for her future endeavors.

 

Being a multisport student-athlete in high school, Laney now knows what it is like to balance work and play and still be successful. She has learned determination to achieve her goals, from the process of making it to college athletics. With this Laney, will impact young adults and show them what it is like to be successful, competitive, and enjoy what they do.
